A 32-year-old man electrocuted at Nyankyerenease; three other people are in serious condition

In Nyankyerenease, in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti, 32-year-old Seth Opoku Boateng was electrocuted, and another man is in critical condition. Around 6:30 a.m. on February 19, 2023, the deceased and three other individuals tried to take down a canopy from a football field where they were preparing to play a game of football. Seth Opoku Boateng, 32, was killed and Ahmed, 34, was critically injured after the top end of the canopy came into contact with an exposed wire on a high tension pole, according to eyewitnesses.

“I got a phone from one of the boys, and when I arrived on the site, I learned that two of the four boys holding the canopy had been taken to the hospital. When I followed up, I learned that one of the victims had died and the other was receiving treatment. The good news is that two other people who were directly involved in the tragedy survived unharmed”. She spoke. The incident has been reported to local police, according to Hon Gifty Amoa, who stated they are now looking into it. In an interview with OTEC News’ Jacob Agyenim Boateng, Assembly Member for the Nyankyerenease Electoral Area Hon. Gifty Amoah stated that the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital had confirmed the deceased’s death.
