Two Pupils Dead, 28 Injured in Bee Attack at Anloga E.P. Basic School

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has confirmed a tragic bee attack at Anloga E.P. Basic School in the Volta Region, which has resulted in the death of two learners and injuries to twenty-eight (28) other persons.

In a statement issued by the Public Relations Unit of the Service, GES said the incident occurred on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, when a swarm of bees attacked members of the school community during school hours.

According to the report, a total of thirty (30) persons were affected by the incident. These included twenty-two learners, five teachers, and three school feeding cooks. The teachers were reportedly stung while making efforts to rescue learners from the attack.

Tragically, two of the affected learners lost their lives, while the remaining victims sustained varying degrees of injuries and are receiving medical care.

The Management of the Ghana Education Service has expressed its deepest condolences and sympathies to the bereaved families during this difficult period. GES also extended its best wishes for a speedy recovery to all injured victims and assured them of the Service’s full support throughout the recovery process.

GES further commended the teachers, officials of the Ghana National Fire Service, and community members whose swift intervention helped to bring the situation under control and prevent further casualties.

The Service noted that it is working closely with the Ghana National Fire Service, the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), and the District Chief Executive to completely eliminate the habitat of the bees and put preventive measures in place to avert any future occurrence.
