Transport fares to go down by 10% effective May 17, check new fares
As of May 17, 2023, 10% fares reduction will be available to users of public transportation. This comes after ongoing marginal fuel price decreases.
The cut will impact haulage, intra-city (trotro), inter-city (long distance), and shared taxis, according to a statement from the road transport companies on Monday evening.
To account for the decline in the price of petroleum products throughout the course of the time, the road transport operators declared that they had lowered public transportation charges by 10% in accordance with the administrative arrangement on fares.

Due to the drop in the price of oil on the world market and the relative stability of the Ghana cedi, prices for petroleum products have somewhat decreased in the second pricing window of May 2023.
Diesel, gasoline, and are expected to be sold at the pumps for GHS 12.30 and GHS 12.15 per litre, respectively. The revised fares must be adhered to, and they must be posted at commercial transport operators’ loading ports.
The statement concluded, “We further ask all operators, commuters, and the general public to kindly cooperate for the successful implementation of the new fares.”
