Tragedy at Kinbu SHS: Student Fatally Stabbed, Community Demands Justice

Tensions have gripped Kinbu Senior High School in Accra following the tragic death of a student, Addib Alhassan, who was fatally stabbed during an altercation reportedly stemming from a heated argument.
The incident, which occurred during school hours, shocked both students and staff. According to eyewitness accounts, Addib was quickly rushed to the Adabraka Polyclinic and subsequently referred to the Ridge Hospital for emergency care. Sadly, he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
News of the young student’s death triggered widespread outrage and grief within the local community. Irate youth stormed the school premises in protest, prompting the deployment of security personnel to restore order and prevent further escalation.

In response to the tragedy, the bereaved family is calling for a full-scale investigation. They are appealing to both the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Ghana Police Service to leave no stone unturned in uncovering the exact circumstances that led to Addib’s untimely demise and to ensure that justice is served.
The school has since been placed under heightened security as investigations continue.
Speaking to the media, the headmaster of Kinbu Senior High School confirmed the death of the student but clarified that the stabbing did not occur on school grounds, contrary to widespread speculation. He further stated that the matter is currently being handled by the police, and the school is cooperating fully with law enforcement authorities.
As investigations unfold, the tragic incident has reignited conversations around student safety and the growing concern of violence involving school-aged youth. Parents, educators, and community leaders alike are urging authorities to take decisive action to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
