Elon Musk, the creative force behind Tesla, is closely trailing Arnault, who has maintained his place at the top since February 2024, according to Forbes’ real-time billionaires list.
In a recent development, Musk was momentarily eclipsed by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in April 2024, taking second place. But Musk quickly reclaimed his position with a stunning 15% increase in Tesla’s shares on April 29, 2024, which increased his net worth by $14.5 billion, according to Forbes.
Musk’s latest investigation into China’s electric vehicle market highlights his unwavering commitment to innovation. Musk has closed the financial gap with Arnault, who is currently worth $10 billion more than him at $209.4 billion, despite Musk still lagging behind him.
Nevertheless, Arnault’s LVMH suffered a blow last month when its stock value dropped, causing a $17 billion drop in its wealth. Arnault’s standing as the richest person in the world is unaffected by this, nevertheless.
Furthermore, Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, dropped to third position with a $193.3 billion net worth during the same period, while Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta reported a $151.2 billion net worth.
With a net worth of $128 billion, Microsoft founder Bill Gates—who held the title of richest person in the world for over three decades—has fallen from seventh place to ninth place in the rankings.
Francoise Bettencourt Meyers, a Frenchwoman, held the title of richest woman in the world as of May 1, 2024. She is the 15th richest person in the world with an estimated net worth of $95.4 billion.
Francoise’s wealth, according to Forbes, stems from her ownership share in the massive cosmetics company L’Oreal, which she inherited from her late mother. Eugène Schueller, the man who founded L’Oreal, was her grandfather.
