SAD NEWS: Eight school children dead after their boat overturned whiles returning from school
Following the drowning of nine children at the island settlement in the Greater Accra region, the town of Fanaa has been plunged into mourning.
On Wednesday in the late afternoon, the students are reported to have drowned on their way home from school.
When the tragedy occurred, there were 12 persons on the boat, including the owner, and 8 of them died. To their safety, three people were able to swim.

One youngster was initially missing, and her body was discovered after a search on Thursday morning.
The boat’s owner is currently being held by authorities while they do their investigation.
The deceased have been transported to the Accra mortuary of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in the interim.
According to Joy News, police have also asked the parents of the victims to assist in locating their relatives.
