Police Catch Fleeing Suspects with Weapons, Ammunition, and $255,000 On New Year’s Eve in Kwara State
When police officers stopped them at the checkpoint on the freeway, they had two AK-47 guns, 70 empty magazines, 50 rounds of live AK-47 ammo, three Tecno phones, 11 batteries for phone handsets, criminal charms, clothing, and the money in a sack tied to the motorcycle.
The event occurred on December 31, 2022, at or around 2300 hours at the Bode-Saadu checkpoint, which was guarded by a detachment of police officers as part of the strategy to secure the safety of citizens for the year’s celebrations, according to SP Okasanmi Ajayi, the command’s spokeswoman.
One of the strategy’s significant successes, according to Okasanmi, occurred on December 31, 2022, at around 2300 hours along the Bode Sadu axis of the Moro LGA, when a police detachment assigned to patrol the axis spotted and flagged down a Bajaj motorbike operator for a regular inspection.
The official stated that efforts are being made to apprehend the fleeing suspect, who is firmly believed to be one of the kidnappers operating near the border towns of the states of Ekiti, Kogi, and Kwara.
The Kwara State Commissioner of Police has pledged to use the necessary pressure to ensure that the evading suspects and the members of their gang are apprehended.
