Outcry as Bomaa SHS Students Rely on Single Deplorable Toilet Facility
A concerned Ghanaian has raised alarm over the deplorable state of the only toilet facility serving students of Bomaa Senior High School in the Ahafo Region, following the circulation of a video on social media.
The video, which has since attracted public attention, shows a dilapidated and unhygienic toilet structure allegedly used by the entire student population of the school. The facility appears overstretched and poorly maintained, raising serious health and safety concerns for both students and staff.
According to the individual who shared the footage, the situation poses a significant risk to students’ well-being and dignity, especially in a boarding school environment where access to decent sanitation is essential. He is therefore appealing to the government, through the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service (GES), to urgently intervene.
The concerned citizen is calling for the construction of modern and adequate sanitation facilities to replace the current structure, stressing that no school should subject students to such conditions in the 21st century.

Poor sanitation in schools has long been linked to health challenges, absenteeism, and a decline in academic performance. Education stakeholders have repeatedly emphasized that safe and hygienic learning environments are critical to achieving quality education outcomes.
Residents and old students of Bomaa SHS are also being urged to support advocacy efforts to draw the attention of authorities to the issue, as pressure mounts for swift action to safeguard the welfare of students.
As of the time of filing this report, the management of Bomaa Senior High School and officials from the Ghana Education Service in the Ahafo Region are yet to officially respond to the concerns raised in the video.
