Mother Cries Out After Teacher Brutally Flogs 3-Year-Old Pupil Leaving Her with Marks

A mother in Enugu State has raised an alarm after her three-year-old daughter was allegedly beaten by a teacher at Emem Nursery and Primary School in Abakpa Nike, leaving visible marks and bruises on the child’s body.
According to the distraught mother, her little girl returned home crying and in pain, with red and swollen marks all over her back and arms — evidence of what she described as a “merciless beating.” The incident has sparked outrage among parents and community members, who are calling for swift justice and accountability from the school authorities.
The mother recounted that she was left heartbroken upon seeing the condition of her daughter, who could barely sit or sleep due to the severity of the flogging. She stated that when she confronted the school management, they initially tried to downplay the incident before finally admitting that a teacher had disciplined the child.

“This is a three-year-old child,” she lamented. “What kind of discipline involves beating a baby like this? I entrusted my daughter to them to learn, not to be abused.”

Many have condemned the act as barbaric and unacceptable, emphasizing that corporal punishment has no place in modern classrooms, especially in early childhood education. Child rights advocates have since called on the Enugu State Ministry of Education and relevant authorities to investigate the matter and ensure justice for the victim.
The incident reignites ongoing conversations about the need for teacher training on positive discipline methods and the enforcement of child protection policies in Nigerian schools.
As of the time of this report, neither the school’s management nor the teacher involved has issued an official statement regarding the incident.
