By overtaking Cristiano Ronaldo in Guinness World Records accolades, football legend Lionel Messi has conclusively decided who the greatest player of all time is.
The most recent list of “Most Guinness World Records Titles Achieved by Footballers” was made public by Guinness World Records’ official Twitter account, and Messi now tops the list with an astounding 41 titles, surpassing Ronaldo, who has 40.
Soccer fans all across the world rejoiced as word of Messi’s amazing accomplishment spread like wildfire. Messi has clearly established his position as an all-time great in the “beautiful game” with his amazing accomplishments both on and off the field.
Messi’s most recent record was added during Inter Miami’s thrilling 4-0 League Cup triumph over Atlanta United, where he displayed his talent by scoring two spectacular goals.
Notably, the second goal from that game, which received an astounding 3.4 billion internet views, cemented its place in history by becoming the most watched live event in American history.
The number of goals scored in a calendar year is possibly one of Messi’s most important records. When the Argentine maestro scored an astonishing 86 goals in the year 2012, a performance that seems almost hard to top, he enchanted both supporters and opponents.
With nine records, Robert Lewandowski, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar round out the top five footballers on the Guinness World Records list, but Messi remains the undisputed king at the top.
