Kpandai District Faces Third Destructive Windstorm in a Month, Leaving Schools and Homes in Ruins

The Kpandai District in the Northern Region has been hit by yet another devastating windstorm, marking the third such incident in just a month. The latest storm has wreaked havoc across the district, causing significant damage to both public infrastructure and private properties.
Several public schools have been severely affected, with key educational institutions like Kpandai Primary School, Lessing Primary, Kpandai DA, New Nkanchina, and Balia Basic School bearing the brunt of the storm’s fury. The destruction has disrupted academic activities, forcing authorities at these schools to call for immediate intervention and support to repair the damages and ensure that learning can resume promptly.

In addition to the widespread damage to schools, the storm has left over 20 homes destroyed, displacing many families and causing serious economic hardship for local residents. The loss of homes and personal property has compounded the challenges faced by the community, with many struggling to recover from the financial losses.

ASASE 91.5 FM, an affiliate of Adom 106.3 FM, was also struck by the storm. The radio station’s transmission tower was completely crushed, rendering the station unable to broadcast. The station manager confirmed the extent of the damage and urgently called for assistance to restore operations, which are crucial for keeping the community informed during these difficult times.

The repeated windstorms in such a short span of time have left the Kpandai District grappling with both immediate and long-term challenges. Local authorities, residents, and stakeholders are calling for swift action to provide relief and rebuild the affected areas, ensuring that both public services and daily life can return to normal.
