Kinbu SHTS Mourns Form One Student Killed in Alleged Stabbing Incident

The Governing Board and management of Kinbu Senior High Technical School in Accra have confirmed the tragic death of a Form One student following a suspected stabbing incident.

In a statement issued on Thursday, August 7, 2025, the school described the incident as “distressing and unfortunate,” noting that it came just months after the institution’s 150th-anniversary celebration.

According to the statement, the incident occurred on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, when the deceased and a group of his classmates allegedly left their classrooms during school hours and entered an uncompleted classroom block outside the main school compound. There, they reportedly engaged in gambling activities locally known as Tsatsa.

A misunderstanding is said to have erupted among the students, during which the deceased was allegedly stabbed by another student.

In a development the school described as “unfortunate,” none of the students involved informed any teacher or school authority. Instead, they reportedly carried their injured colleague over a section of the school fence and took him to a nearby hospital without the knowledge or permission of the school’s management.

The following day, July 31, 2025, the family of the victim visited the school to officially inform management that their son had passed away at the hospital.

The Governing Board has expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family and called for calm as investigations continue into the matter.
