JUST IN: FDA notifies the general public about contaminated sausages on the market [More Details]

The Foods and Drugs Authority (FDA) has as at today, Tuesday, October 11, 2022 released an official statement informing the general public about some specific brand of sausages which have been contaminated on the Ghanaian market, and the general public need to be wary when buying sausage. It stated in the statement that, all individuals having products with such names are to report to their offices nationwide or contact 0551112224 or 0551112225 for guidance.

The statement reads, “The attention of the  Foods and Drugs Authority (FDA) has been drawn to the recall of Agricola Tre Vali sausage products, namely, AIA Wudy and Pavo brands, by the Italian authorities due to the presence of Listeria bacteria in these sausages made from poultry meat. Two (2) batches with codes 1785417 and 01810919 with expiration date November 30, 2022, are implicated. Considering the recall activities ongoing in Europe and other countries, the FDA has also conducted a market surveillance activity and Pavo Frankfurt sausages with expiry date November 2022 were found in Ho in the Volta Region. The products have been since detained for safe disposal. So far, no AIA Wudy sausages have been found on our market. The FDA directs that anyone in possession of the above-mentioned products should immediately take them to either our Head Office or Regional Offices across the country. The FDA wishes to to assure the public that its surveillance teams continue to monitor the markets for any of the above-mentioned products.
