“It’s the Female Student’s Decision to Allow the Headmaster to Touch Her” — SHS Student’s Comment Sparks Outrage

A shocking comment made by a female student of Akstech Senior High School on Neat FM has stirred intense reactions online and rekindled conversations about morality, discipline, and guidance among Ghanaian youth.
During a discussion on the ongoing controversy involving a KNUST student and an assistant headmaster accused of inappropriate conduct, the Akstech student boldly stated that “it’s the female student’s decision to allow the headmaster to touch her.”
Her statement, which was made during an interview session, has since gone viral and drawn heavy criticism from social media users, educators, and parents alike. Many have expressed deep concern about the mindset of some students regarding issues of consent, sexual harassment, and abuse of authority.
A section of the public believes the student’s view reflects a worrying moral decline among young people, while others blame the educational system and society at large for failing to instill strong values and awareness about such sensitive issues.

One listener wrote online, “It’s either we have failed these young ones or they are just refusing to learn. This is just plain wrong.” The comment has since been shared widely, with many urging schools to strengthen guidance and counseling programs to address gaps in students’ moral education.
Meanwhile, educationists and gender activists have called for intensified awareness campaigns in schools about sexual abuse, consent, and power dynamics between students and school authorities. They emphasize that teachers and headmasters are duty-bound to protect students, not exploit their trust or vulnerability.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has not yet commented on the student’s remark, but the broader conversation continues to highlight the urgent need for moral and civic education reform within the country’s schools.
