IGP elevates police officer wounded in special operation by Carprice armed robbers
In a statement dated December 13, 2022, with reference number-PAD/PRESS/VOL.4/1/62, signed by Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs, management of the Ghana Police Service announced that the police officer who was shot during the shootout between police and the Carprice armed robbers had been promoted from the rank of Corporal to Sargeant with immediate effect.
The Officer participated in a special operation to apprehend armed robbers who had attacked, shot, and robbed a woman at Carprice in Accra, together with other members of his team.
Due to the shooting, the injured officer’s right thigh bone had many fractures, necessitating significant surgery.
In order to ensure that he receives the best medical care available in Ghana or elsewhere in the world, as the case may be, the Police administration has made the necessary provisions under the Police Emergency Medical Intervention Fund (PEMIF), which was launched by His Excellency the President in January of this year.
The management would like to once more express their gratitude to the officer and all the other team members for the part they played in the capture of one of the thieves and the killing of two more.
