Guidance and Counselling Association of Ghana Congratulates Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis on Appointment as GES Director-General

The Guidance and Counselling Association of Ghana (GCAG) has extended heartfelt congratulations to Professor Ernest Kofi Davis on his recent appointment as the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES). In a statement issued by the Association, the leadership expressed confidence in Prof. Davis’s ability to bring transformative change to the educational landscape of Ghana, particularly in the area of guidance and counselling.
“The Guidance and Counselling Association of Ghana stands ready to collaborate with Professor Davis and the Ghana Education Service,” the Association stated, highlighting its commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at revitalizing guidance and counselling services across the country’s schools.
According to GCAG, robust guidance and counselling structures are vital to nurturing resilient, well-rounded individuals who are equipped to meet the demands of the 21st Century. “We are committed to supporting initiatives that will revamp guidance and counselling across Ghana’s educational institutions, ensuring that our students receive the holistic support necessary for academic, career, social and personal growth,” the statement added.
Reflecting on Prof. Davis’s track record, the Association commended his proactive promotion of guidance and counselling services during his tenure as Provost of the College of Education Studies at the University of Cape Coast. His leadership, the Association recalled, elevated guidance and counselling not only as a field of study but also as an integral support service within the academic environment.
“We have no doubt in our minds that you would pay special attention to guidance and counselling as a service,” GCAG noted, expressing optimism that under his leadership, pre-tertiary education in Ghana will benefit from a more holistic and student-centered approach.
“Once again, congratulations to Professor Ernest Kofi Davis on this well-deserved appointment. We look forward to partnering with him to drive transformative changes in guidance and counselling in the pre-tertiary sector of Ghana,” the statement concluded.
