GNAT Opens Applications for Assistant Regional Secretary Positions

The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has announced vacancies for the position of Assistant Secretary (Assistant Regional Secretary), inviting applications from suitably qualified and dedicated Ghanaian teachers who possess strong leadership, administrative, and interpersonal skills.

According to the official notice, the position is open to committed members of GNAT who believe in the Association’s values and objectives. Applicants must hold at least a first degree from a recognized university and be professional teachers not above the rank of Assistant Director II, with a minimum of five years’ working experience on that rank.

Candidates for the Assistant Secretary II position must also have at least four years of experience, be between 30 and 45 years old, and possess basic computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for managing personnel within the Regional Secretariat, maintaining records of GNAT staff in the region, compiling educational statistics, and taking minutes of meetings for regional sub-committees, councils, and executives.

Other duties include:

  • Supervising the activities of GNAT’s regional associations.
  • Initiating and executing economic and welfare activities.
  • Coordinating common welfare projects within the region.
  • Managing death and retirement benefit payments to beneficiaries.
  • Supervising regional secretariat staff and handling records for death and retirement benefits for submission to GNAT Headquarters.

GNAT seeks a highly motivated and dependable individual with a strong sense of integrity, responsibility, and initiative. Applicants must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, managerial, and leadership skills, along with tolerance, solidarity, and resilience.
