GES shortens the first term for Basic Schools by 4 weeks in 2023

The Ghana Education Service (GES), the organisation in charge of education in the nation, has shortened the first term of the 2023 academic year by four (4) weeks.

The first school term break will now begin on March 25th, 2023 instead of April 21st as originally planned, a four-week delay from the previous date. This is in accordance with the new calendar that has been implemented.

Not only will the first school term’s 15 weeks of instruction be cut to 11 weeks when this newly proposed academic calendar goes into effect.

Also, because the new holiday season will begin just ten days before the commencement of the second school term, the holidays will also suffer.

The new calendar is intended to make it easier for education in the nation to switch back to the previous system, in which a new academic year starts in the month of September, per data compiled by kingcyrusonline.com.
