GES Reinstates Parent-Teacher Associations in Pre-Tertiary Schools Nationwide

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the reinstatement of Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) in all pre-tertiary institutions across the country, following a directive from the President of the Republic, H.E. John Dramani Mahama.

This policy directive, made public in a press release dated 17th July 2025 and signed by the Head of Public Relations, Mr. Daniel Fenyi, is aimed at enhancing collaboration between schools, parents, and communities to improve educational outcomes in Ghana.

According to the statement, the Management of GES has instructed all Heads of Public Senior High Schools, Technical Institutes, and STEM schools to begin the implementation of the reinstatement immediately. The Service believes that involving parents and community stakeholders will significantly strengthen the delivery of quality education to Ghanaian learners.

The press release also hinted at the development of comprehensive guidelines to govern the structure, responsibilities, and financial accountability mechanisms of the PTAs. These forthcoming guidelines are expected to ensure transparency, uniformity, and efficiency in the operations of PTAs across the nation.

GES has expressed optimism about the initiative, stating that it will rely on the support of all stakeholders to ensure smooth and effective implementation of this policy. The move marks a renewed effort to engage parents more actively in the educational development of their wards and promote shared responsibility in the management of schools.

As the country awaits further directives on the operational framework of the PTAs, stakeholders have been urged to prepare for active participation and collaboration in the coming weeks.
