GES postpone GASSA Super Zonal Games in Greater Accra Indefinitely

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the indefinite postponement of the Greater Accra Senior High School Sports Association (GASSA) Super Zonal Games.
According to an official circular issued by the Greater Accra Regional Education Office on Monday, January 19, 2026, the sporting event, which was scheduled to take place on January 21 and 22, 2026, at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra, has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.
The notice, addressed to all heads of second cycle institutions in the Greater Accra Region, directed participating schools and relevant stakeholders to suspend all preparations for the games until further notice. The Regional Education Office assured schools that a new date for the competition would be communicated in due course.

“We count much on your cooperation,” the statement noted. The circular was signed by the Greater Accra Regional Director of Education, Hajia Katumi Natogmah Attah (Mrs), and copied to relevant stakeholders within the education sector.
The GASSA Super Zonal Games form a key part of the inter-school sports calendar in the region, bringing together selected senior high schools to compete in various sporting disciplines. The postponement is expected to affect school sports programmes and preparations across participating institutions.
Schools and stakeholders have therefore been advised to await further official communication from the Ghana Education Service regarding the rescheduling of the games.
