GES organizes training workshops to enhance the skills of SHS Heads
The Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has organised capacity-building and training workshops for all 709 heads of senior high, senior high technical, and STEM schools.
The workshops, which lasted two days each, for each of the five cohorts were hosted in Kumasi, Tamale, Winneba and Ho.
The workshops were held for the northern belt, comprising Upper East, Upper West, North East, Northern and Savannah regions, while the middle belt comprised the Ashanti, Bono, Bono East, Ahafo, and Western North regions.
The southern belt covered the Volta, Oti, Eastern, Central, Greater Accra and Western regions.
The Director-General of the GES, Dr Eric Nkansah, who led the Deputy Director-General in charge of Management Services, Stephen Owusu, together with other directors from the headquarters and other retired directors of education provided comprehensive and in-depth training to the heads of schools.

The participants were equipped with a wide range of skills, including strategic management, legal issues, guidance and counselling, auditing, the GES Management Information System (GESMIS) and the Public Financial Management (PFM) Act.
Some former regional education directors shared their wealth of experience in critical school leadership and management skills, with the heads, to foster a collaborative learning environment.
Reflecting on the achievements of the workshops and his vision for the future, the Director-General expressed confidence in the transformative power of those training sessions.
He stated, “I am certain that these training sessions will significantly enhance the education management and leadership skills of our heads of schools, leading to improved performance and learning outcomes.”
