GES Invites Teachers to One-Day Capacity Building Workshop on NTC Teacher Portfolio Development

The Ghana Education Service (GES) in the Nkoranza North District has announced a mandatory one-day capacity building workshop for all teachers within the district, aimed at improving teachers’ proficiency in the use of the National Teaching Council (NTC) Teacher Portal and strengthening their professional portfolios.

In a circular dated 18th November, 2025, and issued by the District Directorate of Education, heads of Basic and Second Cycle schools were informed about the upcoming training scheduled for 1st and 2nd December, 2025. The workshop will run in two cohorts, with sessions starting at 8:00 a.m. sharp on both days.

According to the GES, the workshop focuses on three critical areas essential to every teacher’s professional growth:

Key Objectives of the Training

  1. Enhancing teachers’ skills in navigating and resolving challenges on the NTC Teacher Portal.
This includes addressing common issues teachers face with logging in, updating records, and managing their profiles on the portal.
  2. Guiding teachers on how to properly upload relevant artifacts for assessment.
Participants will learn how to compile, prepare, and submit required professional documents such as lesson plans, CPD evidence, and other portfolio materials.
  3. Training educators to craft a compelling Teaching Philosophy and build a quality Teacher Portfolio.
This aspect aims to help teachers articulate their professional identity and demonstrate their competencies in alignment with NTC standards.

Workshop Fee and Payment Process

Teachers participating in the workshop are required to pay a GH¢60 fee, which covers:

  • Tuition and facilitation
  • Water
  • CPD points
  • Certificate of participation

Payment is to be made through institutional channels:

  • Basic School teachers: Pay to headteachers
  • Senior High School teachers: Pay to Assistant Headmasters (Academic)

The Directorate indicated that the training schedule has been attached to the circular and urged all teachers to study it carefully and take prompt action.

The initiative reflects GES’s continuous effort to strengthen teachers’ professional competencies and ensure compliance with NTC standards, especially as teacher licensing and renewal continue to play a crucial role in educator accountability and career progression.

As the dates draw near, teachers across the Nkoranza North District are expected to prepare for this essential professional development activity, which forms part of broader national efforts to uplift the quality of education in Ghana.
