GES Grants Approval for Educational Mentorship Tour to Southern Ghana

The Savannah Regional Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has approved a mentorship and familiarisation tour for selected best-performing pupils and students in the region. The tour, which is scheduled to take place in southern Ghana, is a collaborative initiative between the GES and Education for Change (EFC), a Tamale-based non-governmental organisation committed to nurturing learners through education, tourism, culture, and entrepreneurship.
In a letter dated 22nd July 2025, the Regional Director of Education, Mr. Bright A. Lawoe, stated that the initiative aligns with GES’s mission to promote creativity, critical thinking, and the holistic development of learners. The program seeks to expose outstanding pupils and students to broader learning opportunities, foster mentorship, and inspire academic excellence through guided educational experiences outside their immediate environment.
Education for Change (EFC), the implementing NGO, has been authorised to collaborate with District Directors of Education across the Savannah Region to select participants for the tour. The selected pupils will benefit from educational exposure and mentorship opportunities that are expected to broaden their understanding of culture, innovation, and leadership beyond the classroom.

The GES Regional Directorate expressed confidence in the organisers, stating that EFC is expected to ensure the safety, welfare, and wellbeing of both pupils and teachers participating in the trip.
“All Municipal and District Directors of Education within the region are hereby informed to cooperate with Education for Change (EFC) in this regard,” the letter emphasized.
This initiative is one of several ongoing efforts by the GES and its partners to bridge educational disparities between regions and to inspire young learners to aim higher in their academic and personal pursuits.
The mentorship tour is seen as a strategic move to not only reward excellence but also motivate other students to strive for outstanding performance in their academic work.
