GES Directs Dzodze-Penyi SHS Headmaster to Step Aside Over Alleged Sexual Misconduct
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has directed the Headmaster of Dzodze-Penyi Senior High School, Mr. Joshua Vidzro, to step aside with immediate effect following allegations of sexual misconduct involving some female students of the school.
The directive, issued in a letter dated December 6, 2025, and signed by the Volta Regional Director of Education, Mr. Francis Yaw Agbemadi, stated that the action was taken under instructions from the Director-General of GES as part of measures to ensure a credible investigation.
According to the letter, Mr. Vidzro is alleged to have engaged in acts of sexual misconduct with certain female students, a matter the Service describes as serious and requiring urgent investigation. The temporary removal from office, the statement noted, is intended to protect the integrity of the investigative process and prevent any form of interference, whether real or perceived.
Mr. Vidzro has been instructed to formally hand over all school property, documents, responsibilities, and administrative duties to the Municipal Director of Education for Ketu North. He is also to vacate the school premises by Monday, December 8, 2025, after the handing-over process is completed.

The Regional Directorate further directed the embattled headmaster to make himself available whenever needed during the ongoing investigations and to refrain from all forms of direct or indirect contact with the affected students and other potential witnesses.
Importantly, GES clarified that the directive is not a presumption of guilt but rather an administrative step taken to allow due process and ensure institutional accountability.
In the interim, the Municipal Director of Education for Ketu North has been tasked to take charge of the administration and management of Dzodze-Penyi SHS until further notice.
The correspondence has also been copied to key authorities including the Volta Regional Minister, the Director-General of GES, the Municipal Chief Executive of Ketu North, and the Board Chairman of Dzodze-Penyi SHS.
GES has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding students and ensuring that all allegations involving staff are thoroughly and transparently investigated.
