GES Declares Vacancy for Regional SHS Coordinator in Savannah Region

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially announced a vacancy for the position of Regional Senior High Schools (SHS) Coordinator in the Savannah Region.

In a letter dated 22nd January 2026, and signed by the Savannah Regional Director of Education, Bright Lawoe, the Regional Education Directorate is inviting applications from qualified, competent, and dedicated officers within the Service to fill the position.

According to the notice, the successful applicant will be responsible for coordinating, supervising, and improving the overall management and performance of all Senior High Schools in the Savannah Region, in line with national education policies and standards.

Key Responsibilities

The Regional SHS Coordinator will, among other duties:

  • Coordinate and supervise the administrative and academic activities of Senior High Schools in the region
  • Monitor teaching and learning outcomes and support school improvement initiatives
  • Ensure effective implementation of Ghana Education Service policies at the SHS level
  • Liaise with Heads of Schools, District Education Offices, and other key stakeholders
  • Monitor resource utilization and infrastructure development in Senior High Schools
  • Prepare and submit periodic reports on school performance and challenges
  • Support capacity building and professional development of school leadership and staff

Required Qualifications and Experience

Applicants are expected to possess:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (a Master’s degree will be an added advantage)
  • Professional teacher status with the Ghana Education Service
  • At least six (6) years of relevant working experience
  • Considerable teaching and administrative experience at the Senior High School level
  • Proven leadership, supervisory, and coordination skills

Skills and Competencies

The ideal candidate should demonstrate:

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Good communication and report-writing abilities
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Willingness to travel within the Savannah Region

Mode of Application

Interested applicants are required to submit an application letter together with the following documents:

  • A Confidential Report from the applicant’s Supervising Head or Municipal/District Director of Education (sealed)
  • Four (4) copies of completed Personal Record Forms duly signed by the Head of Institution
  • Four (4) passport-sized photographs
  • Certified photocopies of all academic and professional certificates
  • Appointment and promotion letters

Completed application forms should be submitted to the Regional Director, Ghana Education Service, P.O. Box UD 90, Damongo, on or before Wednesday, 11th February 2026.

Important Notice

The GES has emphasized that:

  • Late applications will not be considered
  • District Directors must ensure the advertisement reaches all eligible officers and Second Cycle Institutions within their jurisdictions
  • Only shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview

The announcement has been distributed to all Municipal and District Directors of Education, Heads of Second Cycle Institutions in the Savannah Region, and the Head of the Human Resource Management and Development Unit at the Regional Education Office.
