The Ghana Education Service (GES), in collaboration with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), has announced a monitoring exercise scheduled to take place in selected Senior High Schools (SHS), Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS), and STEM institutions across the country.
The exercise, which will run from February 10 to February 14, 2025, aims to evaluate the implementation of new internal assessment practices under the 2024/2025 SHS/SHTS/STEM curriculum.
Purpose of the Monitoring
The monitoring visits are designed to:
- Ensure the effective execution of the internal assessment procedures introduced as part of the new curriculum.
- Gather information to enhance assessment processes and practices.
- Engage with school management, Year 1 teachers, and students to provide guidance and support where needed.
Key Details
Two representatives from both GES and WAEC will visit the various schools to interact with stakeholders and assess how the internal assessment practices are being implemented. This initiative underscores the commitment of educational authorities to improve student evaluation systems and foster a robust learning environment.
