Fresh Sexual Harassment Allegations Hit Dzodze-Penyi SHS in Volta Region
Dzodze-Penyi Senior High School in the Volta Region has been hit by fresh allegations of sexual harassment involving a teacher and a final-year female student, sparking renewed public concern over student safety in Ghana’s senior high schools.
According to information circulating on social media, a teacher identified as Tovor Vincent, popularly known among students as “Mr. Cassava” or “Agbeli,” is alleged to have sent sexually explicit WhatsApp messages to a female student in her final year at the school.
Screenshots purported to be the messages have triggered widespread condemnation online, with many calling for swift action from school authorities and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to protect students and uphold professional standards within the teaching profession.
However, the teacher at the centre of the allegations has denied any wrongdoing, describing the messages as a “joke” and insisting that they were not intended to harass or exploit the student.
Despite the denial, the incident has reignited debate about teacher–student boundaries, the misuse of social media platforms, and the persistent challenge of sexual misconduct in some second-cycle institutions.

Education advocacy groups and concerned parents are urging the GES, the Regional Education Directorate, and school management to promptly investigate the matter, stressing that allegations of this nature must be treated with seriousness, transparency, and urgency.
They further argue that recurring reports of sexual harassment in schools point to the need for stronger enforcement of the GES Code of Conduct, intensified sensitisation on professional ethics, and clear reporting and protection mechanisms for students who may be victims of abuse.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from the Ghana Education Service or the management of Dzodze-Penyi SHS regarding the allegations.
The public is closely watching how authorities will handle the case, as it adds to growing calls for decisive action to ensure that schools remain safe learning environments free from intimidation, abuse, and exploitation.
