Former Kumasi Anglican SHS Sprinter Benjamin Nsiah Wins U.S. National Title in 400m
Former sprint star of Kumasi Anglican Senior High School, Benjamin Nsiah, has achieved a major milestone in his athletics career after being crowned a national champion in the United States.
The talented sprinter, who currently studies at New Mexico Junior College, won the 400 metres race at the National Junior College Athletic Association Indoor Championships 2026.
Nsiah delivered an outstanding performance during the competition, clocking an impressive 46.19 seconds to secure the gold medal on Saturday and emerge as the national champion in the event.
The achievement marks another significant step in the young athlete’s career, adding to a growing list of accomplishments that began during his time in Ghana.

Nsiah, a member of Kumasi Anglican SHS’s 2023 graduating year group, first gained national attention when he dominated the Ashanti regional school athletics circuit. During the Ashanti Region Super Zonal Athletics Competition in 2023, he was named the Best Boys’ Athlete after delivering exceptional performances on the track.
At the competition, he won the 200 metres race, where he set a new regional record, and also triumphed in the 400 metres, showcasing his remarkable speed and endurance.
His success in the United States has sparked pride among former teachers, teammates, and athletics followers in Ghana, many of whom believe his latest achievement highlights the potential of young Ghanaian athletes when given opportunities to develop their talents internationally.
Sports enthusiasts have also expressed optimism that Nsiah’s continued progress could see him represent Ghana on bigger international stages in the future.
