The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) is the main examination which qualifies students for admission into secondary, technical and vocational schools in Ghana. It is written after students have studied for three years at the Junior High School level and are proceeding to Senior High School. It is overseen by the Ghana Education Service (GES) under the Ministry of Education (MoE). Candidates in the third year of Junior High Schools approved by the Ghana Education Service (GES) are worthy for the assessment which is navigated annually in the month of June in Ghana.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) uses its Computerized School Selection and Placement System to place successful BECE examinees in senior high schools, technical institutes and vocational institutions for admissions.
