Coordination and Nationwide Marking of BECE 2024

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has set in motion a well-organized plan for the marking of the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) papers. This plan ensures a thorough and efficient assessment process, involving both national and regional coordination.

National Coordination

The first phase of this comprehensive marking strategy begins with the National Coordination meeting. This crucial event will take place from the 29th to the 31st of July, 2024, at the WAEC Hall in Accra. Key stakeholders and examiners will converge to develop and finalize the marking schemes. This gathering aims to establish a standardized approach, ensuring consistency and fairness in the assessment of students’ performances nationwide.

Regional Coordination

Following the national effort, the Regional Coordination meetings are scheduled to occur from the 7th to the 9th of August, 2024. These meetings will see regional examiners and coordinators discussing the national guidelines and tailoring them to suit regional contexts. This step is vital for addressing any unique challenges that may arise in different parts of the country, thereby maintaining the integrity and uniformity of the marking process.

Nationwide Marking of BECE

The climax of this coordinated effort will be the Nationwide Marking of BECE papers, set to commence on the 10th of August and conclude on the 21st of August, 2024. During this period, thousands of examiners across Ghana will meticulously evaluate the students’ scripts, guided by the marking schemes developed during the coordination meetings.

This structured approach by the GES ensures that the 2024 BECE marking process will be efficient, fair, and consistent, reflecting the true academic capabilities of the students. The coordinated efforts at national and regional levels underscore the importance of accuracy and fairness in educational assessments, laying a solid foundation for the future academic and professional journeys of Ghana’s young minds.
