Confirmed Dates for BECE Marking Announced

The marking process for the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) has been confirmed, with clear dates set to ensure a smooth and timely evaluation of candidates’ scripts. This announcement brings clarity to all stakeholders, including examiners, candidates, and the Ghana Education Service (GES).

Zonal Coordination: 17th-18th September 2024

The marking process will commence with the Zonal Coordination from 17th to 18th September 2024. During this period, examiners and coordinators across the various zones will be briefed on the marking scheme, ensuring consistency and accuracy in the evaluation process. This step is crucial as it sets the foundation for the subsequent stages of marking.

Main Coordination: 19th-21st September 2024

Following the Zonal Coordination, the Main Coordination will take place from 19th to 21st September 2024. This phase involves the gathering of senior examiners and lead coordinators to finalize the marking guide and address any discrepancies or concerns that may have arisen during the zonal meetings. The Main Coordination is pivotal in standardizing the marking process across the country.

Conference Marking: 21st September – 11th October 2024

The actual marking of the BECE scripts, known as Conference Marking, will be conducted from 21st September to 11th October 2024. The extended duration of the marking process reflects the thoroughness required to evaluate the diverse subjects examined at the BECE level.

The BECE marking process is a critical step in the academic journey of candidates, as it determines their placement in senior high schools across the country.
