Chris Hughton succeeds Otto Addo as coach of the Black Stars

After lengthy discussion between the two sides, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has chosen Chris Hughton to lead the Black Stars.

Following Ghana’s elimination from the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, Otto Addo resigned as the team’s head coach. Hughton has been chosen to replace him.

After being appointed in March, Addo led the group with help from George Boateng, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, and Hughton serving as the group’s technical advisor.

Hughton will take over as the Black Stars’ next manager, the Ghana FA has confirmed, more than a month after the position first became open.

Following thorough discussion between the two sides, the Ghana Football Association has the pleasure of appointing Chris Hughton as Head Coach of the Black Stars, according to a statement on the FA’s website.

The hiring “is in keeping with the objective of the GFA to continue with the process of creating a powerful squad that started with Otto Addo in the lead-up to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 competition,” said a statement from the GFA.

Boateng and Didi Dramani will continue to serve as the team’s assistant coaches, just as they did under Otto Addo.
