Chelsea Football Club mourns following the death of Christian Atsu
The football world has come together to mourn the passing of Ghanaian forward Christian Atsu, including the Chelsea Football Club.
On Saturday, February 18, 2023, Christian Atsu, a former player for the Chelsea Football Club, was discovered dead in the wreckage of a collapsed structure in Türkiye.
In order to have the body brought to Ghana for burial, the Ghana Embassy in Turkey is currently making the appropriate arrangements with the support of the Government of Turkey.

On Monday, February 6, 2023, a 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck, injuring the 31-year-old.
Earlier, false rumours claimed that Atsu had been rescued and sent to the hospital with respiratory problems and a right foot injury. Atsu’s teammate Kerim Alici, however, denied that the winger had been located in a post on his Instagram account.
Then, according to a tweet from Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, Hatayspor manager Mustafa zat had verified that Atsu and the team’s sporting director Taner Savut were still trapped beneath the debris.
Today, Saturday, February 18, 2023, Chelsea displayed the image of Atsu on its screens at the Stamford Bridge Stadium throughout their game.
