4 Feared dead in ghastly ‘New Year’ accident in Takoradi
In Takoradi, in the Western region, four people have been declared dead following an accident.
According to reports, the collision involving two buses happened in the early hours of January 1, 2023.
An Assemblies of God bus with the registration number GT 4481-22 and a sprinter bus with the Republic of Liberia’s registration number LB-B11992.
Some churchgoers were traveling from Accra to Asankragwa in an Assemblies of God bus, while the sprinter was traveling in the opposite direction.
An eyewitness claimed that the sprinter had been traveling at top speed when it struck the bus at Kojokrom’s New Apostolic Junction while it was negotiating a curve.
“Church people who went to Accra for a camp gathering were placed onto the yellow bus. Whilst returning to Asankragwa, it collided with the sprinter vehicle”.
The four passengers identified as males in the Liberian sprinter bus have been confirmed deceased with others in severe condition.
Meanwhile, people in the Ghanaian bus sustained minor injuries and are currently seeking care at the hospital.
In a timely manner, the Ghana National Fire Service and Police responded to help.
