31st March and 1st April Declared Public Holidays

The general public is hereby informed that Eid-Ul-Fitr, a significant statutory public holiday, will be observed on Sunday, 30th March 2025. However, to accommodate the celebration and ensure the public’s convenience, His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, has declared Monday, 31st March 2025, and Tuesday, 1st April 2025, as additional public holidays.

This declaration was made by the President through an Executive Instrument (E.I.), in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601).

Given that Eid-Ul-Fitr falls on Sunday, the decision to extend the holiday to Monday and Tuesday ensures that Ghanaians have an opportunity to fully observe the religious and cultural significance of the occasion.

All public sector offices, educational institutions, and most private sector businesses are expected to adhere to this declaration, giving Ghanaians the time to celebrate and spend time with their families during this important festival.

This announcement serves to inform the public and assist in planning for the upcoming days, ensuring that individuals can make necessary arrangements for their activities during the extended holiday period.

Eid-Ul-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, is one of the most important religious celebrations in the Muslim calendar, and this move reflects the government’s commitment to supporting national unity and fostering a festive atmosphere for all citizens.
