“You Said I Was Good for Nothing”: Man Recounts Awkward Encounter with Former Teacher at Washing Bay

A man has sparked an emotional and reflective conversation on social media after recounting a surprising and awkward encounter with his former basic school teacher—now working at a washing bay.
According to the man, he had taken his car for a wash when he recognized the individual assigned to clean his vehicle as the same teacher who, years ago, humiliated him in class. He vividly recalled how the teacher once lashed him severely for failing a paper and went as far as telling him he was “good for nothing.”
In a twist of fate, the student has grown into a successful man—driving his own car and now finding the very person who once discouraged him working in a setting far from the classroom.
The man described the teacher’s reaction as visibly uneasy. “He tried to hide while washing my car. He clearly recognized me and was uncomfortable,” the man stated.

While he did not shame the teacher or act out of bitterness, the encounter stirred in him a deep message—one he hopes educators everywhere will take seriously.
“Teachers should be careful with their words. What you say to a child can either build or break them,” he advised.
The story has resonated with many, with readers sharing similar experiences and calling on teachers to correct with compassion, not condemnation.
In a society where teachers play a critical role in shaping young minds, this story is a stark reminder that no child’s potential should be dismissed, and that humility and respect must guide all professions—no matter where life takes us.
