WAEC Releases Final Timetable for 2025 WASSCE for School Candidates

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the final timetable for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates in Ghana.

According to the timetable, this year’s examinations will begin on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, and conclude on Friday, September 19, 2025, with thousands of candidates expected to sit for the exams across the country.

The detailed schedule includes dates, times, and durations for a wide range of subjects spanning the Arts, Sciences, Business, Agriculture, and Technical programs. Key core subjects such as English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science are all included, alongside elective papers like Technical Drawing, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and Visual Arts.

Each subject is structured into specific components—practical, essay, and objective papers—with some practicals split into sessions to accommodate the number of participating candidates.

WAEC has emphasized that all examination times are in Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) and apply exclusively to candidates in Ghana.

Key Guidelines Highlighted by WAEC:

  • Time Discrepancies: If there is any difference between the time indicated on the official timetable and the time stated on a question paper, candidates are advised to follow the time stated on the question paper.
  • Advance Papers: For subjects requiring extended preparation such as General Knowledge in Art (Paper 3) and various Project Work papers (including Basketry, Ceramics, Leatherwork, and Sculpture), question papers will be distributed two weeks ahead of the examination date. These will be made available through candidates’ respective schools.
  • Special Needs Candidates: In an effort to promote inclusivity, WAEC has reaffirmed that candidates with visual or hearing impairments will be granted one-and-a-half times the standard time to complete each paper.

The final timetable is now available to all schools and candidates across the country. WAEC is urging students, teachers, and school heads to take note of the schedule and observe all examination protocols strictly.

The Council further called on all stakeholders to support efforts aimed at ensuring a smooth, secure, and fair conduct of the 2025 WASSCE.
