Tragic Fire in Axim Leaves Two Children Severely Burned After Alleged Revenge Attack

A heartbreaking incident unfolded early this morning in Axim, Western Region, where a 45-year-old man, identified as Joseph Richard, allegedly set fire to his lover’s house after she requested to end their relationship. The tragic fire, which occurred around 3:00am, left two children with severe burns and has left the community in shock.

The victims, 16-year-old Joseph Ben and 13-year-old Richlove Asiedua Yeboah, were asleep in the room when the blaze erupted, catching them off guard. The children, who suffered significant injuries, were immediately rushed to the hospital and later transferred to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for specialized care.

Eyewitnesses report that the fire was deliberately set by Richard in an apparent act of revenge after his lover, Betty Herman, expressed her desire to break up with him. It is further alleged that Richard’s actions were influenced by threats from his own mother, who reportedly encouraged him to take drastic measures in response to the breakup.

Residents and relatives of the victims have called on the police to act swiftly in locating Richard, who has fled the scene and is currently on the run.
