Teacher Found Dead by His Children in Assin Fosu

Police in the Central Region have launched an investigation into the tragic death of a 38-year-old teacher, Emmanuel Kofi Quainoo, who was found dead in his room at Assin Fosu under circumstances suspected to be suicide.

Mr Quainoo, a teacher at Faith Academy Basic School, was discovered unresponsive in his residence shortly after returning home from work.

Sources at the school disclosed that the deceased had been absent from duty for some time and only resumed teaching on March 2. On the day of the incident, he reportedly left the campus around 12 noon after the second break, informing colleagues that he was unwell and heading home to seek medical attention.

Tragically, it was at his residence that the incident occurred. Preliminary information suggests that Mr Quainoo allegedly used a skipping rope tied to a crossbar in what investigators suspect to be an act of self-harm.

In a heartbreaking development, his two daughters, aged eight and seven, are said to have raised the alarm after returning home from school and finding their father unresponsive.

The case has been formally reported to the police, who have since visited the scene to begin investigations. The body has been conveyed to a local mortuary for preservation pending further inquiries.

Authorities have urged the public, particularly individuals facing emotional or psychological distress, to seek counselling and professional support rather than resort to self-harm. They emphasized the importance of speaking to trusted family members, religious leaders, or mental health professionals during difficult times.

The incident has left residents of Assin Fosu and the school community in shock as investigations continue.
