Teacher, 40, detained on suspicion of forging promotion documents

Atta Boadi Senior, a 40-year-old teacher suspected of faking paperwork to obtain a promotion, has a bench warrant out for his arrest from the Accra Circuit Court.

Boadi is accused of falsifying official documents and tampering with fake paperwork. He works as a Senior Superintendent II at the Subrisu District Assembly Primary School in the Eastern region.

Boadi allegedly sent a falsified letter claiming to have been elevated to the position of Assistant Director II to the Ghana Education Service (GES) Headquarters on July 31, 2023, according to the prosecution. Mr. Alex Dankwa, a GES official, received the letter, and after carefully reviewing it, found that it was a counterfeit.

Boadi went to the GES Headquarters on August 1st, 2023, to ask about his promotion. He ran away from the scene after being questioned about the letter’s veracity. Later, the police located him, and the fake letter was taken away.

The prosecution further disclosed that GES had created a list of teachers who were qualified for promotion, put them through an exam, and then officially promoted and notified the winners in writing. Boadi, however, did not qualify as a teacher and did not follow the correct procedures for promotion.

On September 18, 2023, Boadi is expected to appear in court before Mr. Isaac Oheneba-Kuffour.
