Revoked but Not Reinstated: Affected Teachers Demand Swift Action from GES

Teachers whose appointments were revoked following the assumption of office by the new government are still waiting for reinstatement, despite undergoing a validation process mandated by the Ghana Education Service (GES).
The GES, in a letter dated March 5, directed all affected staff to undergo a validation process aimed at regularizing their status and cleaning up the service’s staff database. Many of the affected teachers complied with this directive and completed the process, hoping for a swift return to the classroom. However, weeks later, their fate remains uncertain.
This lingering delay has created a vacuum in several schools, disrupting academic activities and placing strain on the already burdened educational system. According to the affected teachers, their absence is being deeply felt by students and fellow staff.
Emmanuel Ofori, a spokesperson for the group of concerned teachers, expressed frustration over the inaction by the GES. “We call on the GES and relevant stakeholders to resume all halted processes related to our reinstatement immediately. Also, they should release regional posting letters to enable affected teachers to report to their respective schools,” he stated.

Mr. Ofori further stressed the urgency of processing staff IDs for those who have been reinstated or are at various stages of reappointment. “This is crucial for salary processing and access to official services,” he explained. “Additionally, we demand the immediate release of all outstanding salaries owed to affected teachers since their initial appointment period.”
The affected educators say they are ready and eager to return to their classrooms and continue their service to the nation. “We want to return to the classroom, serve our country, and contribute to building the nation’s future through education,” Mr. Ofori said passionately.
With the academic calendar progressing and schools struggling to fill teaching gaps, the concerned teachers are calling on the Ministry of Education, the GES, and other stakeholders to act swiftly. They emphasize that every delay not only affects their livelihoods but also compromises the quality of education for countless students across the country.
As the situation remains unresolved, the hope among affected teachers and their communities is that authorities will honor their commitment and take decisive steps to restore stability in the education sector.
