Racist chants against Vinicius at Wanda Metropolitano to be investigated by La Liga, according to Cadena SER

Real Madrid played Atletico Madrid on match day 6 yesterday at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium beating Atletico Madrid 2-1 away from their home.

During the game, Rodrygo opened the scoresheet on the 18th minute which was assisted by Aurelien Tchouameni. Tchouameni played the ball to Rodrygo who finds himself unmarked in the box and slotted a first-time shot past Jan Oblak into the left side of the goal. Valverde doubled the lead after 36 minutes of play from a close range. Atletico later had a consolation goal with Mario Hermoso putting his name on the scoresheet on the 83rd minute.

Prior to the match, the fans of Atletico Madrid were seen chanting the name of Vinicius Junior with racist comments. The chants were, “You are a monkey, Vinicius you are a monkey”. This has led the authorities of La Liga to draw the conclusion to sanction the club.

Vinicius Junior has been faced with racist insults lately due to his goal celebration style which some of his National teammates took to social media to support him. The Brazilian alongside the French international, Karim Benzema, have been the key players behind Ancelotti success at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu winning the champions league last season.
