Parents in Anloga Announce Peaceful Demonstration Against District Education Director

Some parents of basic school pupils in the Anloga District of the Volta Region have formally announced plans to embark on a peaceful demonstration on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, to protest against the District Director of Education, Mr Dominic Yao Dzanado.

According to the organisers, the demonstration will take place between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., covering the principal streets of Anloga. The protest is intended to draw public attention to concerns regarding the management of education within the district.

In a press release dated December 25, 2025, and signed by Mr Albert Amaglo, the convener of the group, several grievances were outlined. The statement, which was copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), cited alleged mismanagement, maltreatment of teachers, and violations of the Ghana Education Service (GES) Code of Conduct.

Mr Amaglo alleged that the District Director had engaged in repeated abuse of authority and selective administrative practices. He explained that attempts had been made to resolve the issues through dialogue and other interventions, but these efforts did not produce the desired results, making the demonstration the next course of action.

Mr Amaglo, who is also a teacher at the Anloga Evangelical Presbyterian (EP) Basic School, assured the public that the demonstration would be peaceful and orderly and would not disrupt public peace.

He added that both the Volta Regional Police Command and the Anloga District Police Command had been officially notified to provide security, guide participants, and ensure law and order during the protest.

The convener further disclosed that copies of the notification had been sent to key stakeholders, including the District Director of Education, the Member of Parliament for Anlo Constituency, the Anloga District Chief Executive, traditional authorities such as Togbi Zewu IV, the Dome Fia and Du Fia of Anloga, as well as various media houses for coverage.

Mr Amaglo also accused the District Director of effecting unnecessary teacher transfers without replacements and allegedly demanding unapproved monies from students for external examinations, claims he said many teachers were unaware of.

He explained that the planned demonstration is aimed at drawing attention to what the group describes as educational governance challenges in the district and to seek redress for alleged practices affecting both teachers and students.

However, when contacted by the Ghana News Agency, Mr Dominic Dzanado denied the allegations. He indicated that information available to him suggested the demonstration was intended to defame him. He also assured that he would present his side of the matter to the Ghana News Agency at the appropriate time.

The situation is expected to attract significant public and stakeholder attention as the demonstration date approaches.
