Parents and Students Flood GNAT Hall to Resolve School Placement Issues Ahead of October 18 Reopening

As the October 18 reporting date for newly placed first-year students draws closer, hundreds of parents and students have thronged the GNAT Hall School Placement Resolution Centre in Accra to resolve various challenges with their school placements.
The Centre, which serves as one of the designated resolution points for addressing placement-related issues under the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS), has in recent days witnessed long queues of anxious parents and students seeking assistance.
While some individuals expressed relief after finally having their problems addressed, others lamented the long wait times. Some parents revealed that they had been frequenting the Centre for several days without success, as they sought to change schools, resolve placement errors, or secure placement for their wards who had not yet been assigned schools.
“I’ve been coming here since last week. Today, I was finally able to get my daughter’s issue sorted out. It’s been a stressful process, but I’m just happy it’s over,” one parent shared.

Others, however, were still in line, hopeful that their concerns would be resolved before the deadline.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Free Senior High School Secretariat have appealed to parents to remain calm, assuring that all genuine placement concerns will be addressed before schools officially reopen between October 18 and 20, 2025.
Meanwhile, the GES has cautioned parents and students against engaging middlemen or paying money to individuals who claim they can alter school placements, emphasizing that all services at the resolution centres are free of charge.
The ongoing placement exercise is part of efforts by the Ministry of Education to ensure that all successful Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates are placed in Senior High, Technical, or Vocational schools across the country.
