NTC Lifts Ban on CPD Service Providers After Validation Exercise with EOCO

The National Teaching Council (NTC) has officially lifted the ban placed on the activities of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Service Providers, paving the way for the resumption of CPD programmes across the country.
In a formal communication dated February 4, 2026, the Council announced that the decision follows the successful completion of validation and verification processes conducted in collaboration with the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO). The move is expected to restore normal CPD operations while reinforcing regulatory compliance and accountability standards in Ghana’s teacher professional development space.
The NTC is mandated under Ghana’s education regulatory framework to regulate the teaching profession and promote continuous professional development among teachers nationwide.
Immediate Resumption of CPD Activities
According to the Council, accredited CPD Service Providers can resume activities immediately. However, strict compliance with NTC policies, guidelines, approval procedures, and the professional code of conduct remains mandatory.
Only service providers who have successfully completed the Council’s validation process and are fully accredited are permitted to organise CPD programmes. In addition, all CPD programmes must receive prior approval from the Council before implementation.

Service providers are also required to comply fully with reporting, monitoring, and CPD point submission requirements to ensure transparency and quality assurance in training delivery.
Sanctions for Non-Compliance
The Council cautioned that any service provider found operating outside approved guidelines will face sanctions in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and the professional code of conduct.
The directive further maintains that each service provider can operate in a maximum of three districts. However, providers are permitted to select two additional districts from remote areas to expand access to training opportunities for teachers in underserved locations.
Commitment to Quality Teacher Development
The NTC reaffirmed its commitment to collaboration, transparency, and the delivery of quality CPD programmes for teachers nationwide. The Council’s broader mandate includes licensing teachers, regulating the profession, and promoting continuous professional growth to enhance teaching standards in Ghana.
The lifting of the ban is expected to bring relief to teachers and training organisations while strengthening regulatory oversight to ensure high-quality professional development delivery across the country.
