NTC Assures GTLE Candidates as Ministry Reviews Licensure Regime

The National Teaching Council (NTC) has issued an official statement addressing growing concerns among prospective and resit candidates of the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTLE). According to the release, the Council is actively collaborating with the Ministry of Education to address all outstanding issues regarding the examination process.

The statement, signed by Dennis Osei Owusu, Head of Public Affairs at the NTC, indicated that the move forms part of the Government’s broader “Reset Agenda” aimed at improving educational policies and practices. In line with this agenda, the Minister for Education has constituted a special committee to conduct a comprehensive review of the entire teacher licensure regime.

The Committee is expected to complete its work and submit a report by the close of next week, after which key decisions affecting the GTLE will be communicated.

The NTC is therefore appealing to all candidates—both first-time and resit candidates—to remain calm and patient as the Ministry of Education remains committed to ensuring that no candidate is unduly disadvantaged by any policy changes.

This announcement comes amid growing anxiety over examination schedules and eligibility criteria, especially for those who have been waiting to rewrite the GTLE.

Stakeholders in the education sector are hopeful that the Committee’s findings will lead to reforms that improve fairness, transparency, and efficiency in the teacher licensure process.

The NTC assures the public and all candidates that updates will be provided promptly following the Committee’s submission.
