National Teaching Council Reschedules 2026 Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination to March 24

The National Teaching Council (NTC) has officially announced a change in the commencement date for the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination, informing candidates and stakeholders that the examination will now begin on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

According to a press release issued by the Council on March 16, 2026, the examination was originally scheduled to start on Monday, March 23, 2026, but has been rescheduled due to a statutory public holiday that will be observed on that date.

New Examination Schedule

Despite the change in the starting date, the Council emphasized that all other arrangements remain unchanged. Candidates are therefore expected to take note of the updated schedule and prepare accordingly.

The revised examination timetable is as follows:

  • Tuesday, March 24, 2026General Professional Knowledge
  • Wednesday, March 25, 2026Grade-Level Specialism Pedagogy
  • Thursday, March 26, 2026Multiple Subjects Content / Single Subject Specialism

The GTLE is a mandatory examination conducted by the National Teaching Council for teacher trainees seeking professional licensing to practice teaching in Ghana.

Candidates Advised to Take Note

The Council has urged all candidates writing this year’s examination to take note of the revised date and ensure they comply with the updated schedule.

“The National Teaching Council regrets any inconvenience this change may cause and appreciates the cooperation of all candidates and stakeholders,” the statement indicated.
