In an effort to outbid Liverpool and Manchester City for the England star, Manchester United enters the fight to capture Jude Bellingham, while the team is also preparing a new offer for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong
In addition to being prepared to make another offer for Frenkie de Jong, Manchester United will be in the running to capture Jude Bellingham next summer.
Bellingham, who is anticipated to leave Borussia Dortmund after shining for England at the World Cup, is the subject of intense interest from Liverpool and Manchester City.
After remaining ardent supporters of Bellingham ever since he transferred from Birmingham City to the Bundesliga in 2020, United will mount a fierce challenge to recruit one of the most exciting possibilities in European football.
After Bellingham and his parents visited the team’s Carrington training facility, where he met Sir Alex Ferguson and other club officials, United believed they had won the race to sign Bellingham. This week, manager Erik ten Hag disclosed that he had been promised additional transfer money if the Glazer family sold United after 17 years in charge. Although the recruitment for United next month is likely to be restricted to finding a successor for Cristiano Ronaldo, the club will be on the market for more new hires in the summer.
They have not ruled out making another offer for De Jong in the summer. De Jong was on the verge of leaving Barcelona and joining his former Ajax manager Ten Hag at Old Trafford.
It was rumored that the two teams had settled on a sum around £80 million.
The disagreement over unpaid salaries between De Jong and Barca, however, caused the deal to fall through.
According to sources, Ten Hag is still willing to consider a player of De Jong’s caliber who matches his criteria for a player and character.
The 25-year-old was reportedly receptive to the idea and might yet be persuaded to move to Old Trafford, according to United.
