Ghana Health Service AND KOICA SIGNS RoD ON CHPS+ PROJECT PHASE II
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) have signed a Record of Discussion (RoD) to support the phase II of the CHPS+ project.
The phase II of the project is a 12 million USD project geared towards a comprehensive community– based primary healthcare strengthening in 15 districts in the Upper East Region and 7 districts of the North East Region respectively.
The 5 year project, which is expected to end in 2027, is a continuation of the Government of Korea’s commitment to helping Ghana attain Universal Health Coverage under the outstanding leadership and dedication of Ghana Health Service.
The Director-General of Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kuma- Aboagye, on signing the RoP, highlighted the benefits of the first phase and hoped that the new project will help uplift the North East Region to the level of the Upper East Region.
The CHPS + Project started in 2016 and has contributed to a 10% reduction of institutional maternal mortality ratio and more than 50% reduction in under- five mortality ratio in the Upper East Region. The GHS posted on its official twitter page. See tweet below;
