GES to Train Non-Professional Teachers in Pre-Tertiary Institutions Across Ghana

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced a nationwide training program for non-professional teachers serving in pre-tertiary institutions, specifically in Basic and Senior High Schools.
This directive, issued by the Schools and Instructions Division of GES and signed by Mr. Prince C. Agyemang-Duah on behalf of the Ag. Director-General, is in response to a request from the National Teaching Council (NTC) with reference number NTC/LIC/RT/356/74.
Dated June 17, 2025, the official circular, addressed to all Regional Directors of Education, mandates that the information be circulated to all non-professional teachers in their jurisdictions. These teachers are urged to take advantage of the opportunity by participating in the scheduled training program.

According to the GES, the training aims to enhance the professional capabilities of these teachers and align them with national teaching standards. A detailed training schedule has been attached to the communication to guide implementation at the regional levels.
The circular was also copied to key stakeholders, including the Chairman of the GES Council, various Deputy Director-Generals at GES Headquarters, and the Registrar of the National Teaching Council.
This initiative forms part of broader efforts to improve the quality of education delivery across Ghana by equipping all educators, regardless of their professional status, with the necessary pedagogical skills and competencies.
